Illuminated Iconographic Tibetan Calligraphy

Title:
hum

Acrylic medium with Dutch gold leaf on embossed mount board 45 x 56 cm. 2017.

A broad brushed syllable hum, not only representing the gathering together in one; all the blessing of all the Buddha’s and Bodhisattvas, but also being the heart essence syllable of Padmasambhava, from which all is born and all dissolves back into.

This being the last syllable of the Benza Guru mantra in a series of eight art piece set: Benza Guru mantra: om ah hum benza guru padma siddhi hum.

Especially created for a solo exhibition with Amankora in Thimbu and Paro, Bhutan.
The theme for the exhibition is based on Bhutans patron Saint Padmasambhava. Both Bhutanese and Tibetans widely consider Padmasambhava, or known as Guru Rinpoche, to be the second Buddha.
