Tiger Stripes

Japanese ink on heavy watercolour paper, 57 x 76 cm, 2002

This reads: ‘The stripes of a tiger are on the outside, but the stripes of man lie inside.’

The two-line phrase in the Drutsa script, is turned facing each other, the tails of the letters like the stripes of the Tiger.

This piece, painted a year after the tragic event on September 11th 2001 and is dedicated to the loss and suffering caused on that day.
