Contemporary & Traditional Tibetan Calligraphy

Title:
Peacefully Calm

51x94cm. Japanese ink on heavy water colour paper, 2002.

The larger characters are painted in a Umeh script style on a ‘wet’ ground to achieve the soft blurred effect, at the base is smaller Uchen text reading ‘to become peaceful’.

The foundation of a calm mind is to relax and become peaceful, best achieved through the practice of meditation. Meditation is a skill in its self, which is hard to practice without the foundation of a calm mind. A calm mind has clarity and insight, whereas an agitated mind is tainted of clarity.
